Resident Camp Week 1: FOCC Staff Support was happy to help the staff start their first week off by bringing some bagels, cream cheese, coffee & delish flavored creamers! Good Luck Camp Christopher Staff of 2023; you will have our support all summer long!!
FoCC Staff Support Committee members Bernadette & Margie Sovacool believe, if an army travels on its stomach, then a Camp Staff can soar above the ground with the right bagel combination!
2022: Our FoCC Staff Support Committee was veteran-strong. Chaired by Margie Sovacool with assistance from her sister-in-law, Bernadette and Mary Truax (both board members at-large), this trio is embued with strong sentiments for staff, having not only been Christopher counselors themselves, but who generously guided their own offspring to staff positions in recent seasons. “I will be working with Bernadette and Mary,” Margie pledges, “providing treats and surprises for the 2022 Staff. The Staff works hard and we will show our thanks to them throughout the summer Camp season.”
The trio delivered on that pledge, supplying staff palates and stomachs with good treats to enhance morale. Staff support has provided weekly treats for staff including the following:
Bagels, coffee and creamer, Made to order pancakes, Ice cream sundae bar, Ice cream treats, Candy treat bags, Pizza party, Gatorade cool off, Contribution for Chipotle, Croissants sandwiches & Sub sandwiches.
“The FoCC Staff Support Committee,” said former Committee Chair Libby McGraw, “is near and dear to my heart because I benefited from it during the years I worked at Camp! Staff support is a great way for us to connect with the current staff, provide refreshments throughout their long summer, and keep them connected to Friends of Camp Christopher and to Camp after their time on staff has ended.”
In 2021, Libby handed the task of providing refreshments and resources to all the Camp staff (SumFun, Day Camp, and Resident Camp) to fellow board member Lizzy Flannery who continued to build relationships to keep staff engaged in our great organization.
2022. A duo of Thelma & Louise stature, Bernadette & Margie Sovacool will steer good cheer and edible supports to Christopher summer staff.
Veteran staffer Mary Truax was a presence on Camp’s payroll in two different centuries!
