There’s not much glamour, there’s little glory, but the necessary work of keeping an organization’s foundation rock solid falls to the By-Laws Committee. Ensuring that these written guidelines accurately describe how Friends of Camp Christopher operates is the challenge our late Committee Chair Tom Gannon accepted, and which his wife, Barb, will embrace.

Committee Chair Barb Gannon (top r) listens intently to discussions for By-Laws proposed changes which might take effect in 2022.

Under Tom’s leadership, the committee adopted the following Procedures for the
Periodic Review of the By-Laws:

The By-Laws Committee will meet at least every two years to conduct a review of the By-Laws. The Committee will consider any additions, deletions, or corrections which may be suggested by any committee member, board member, or any member of Friends of Camp Christopher.
• The Committee will notify the Membership of the time and location of the meeting at least seven days before the meeting.
• The Committee will prepare a recommendation for the Board which includes any proposed additions, deletions, or corrections. The Committee will draft changes into language which is consistent with the current By-Laws.
• The Committee could also report that there are no recommended changes at this time.
• The Committee chair will submit the recommendation (or decision to make no changes to the By-Laws) to the President for consideration at the next Board meeting. The Board will recommend changes or deletions to the Membership (with at least fourteen days notice).
• The Board’s recommendation to the Membership will include a written statement of the proposed changes. This recommendation can be made by e-mail with a link to the document with the proposed changes.
• The Membership, following the appropriate notice, will discuss and vote on proposed changes or deletions at their next meeting.
• The By-Laws Committee will incorporate the changes approved by the Membership into the By-Laws document publish the updated By-Laws to the Membership. They will notify the Membership of a link to the updated By-Laws.
• The Committee will note the date of the adoption of the updated changes in a statement at the end of the By-Laws document.

By-Laws Committee Chair Tom Gannon keeps the discussion moving as his team works on revisions.
